By using an electric motor to drive the pump, hydraulic pumps transform electrical energy into fluid pressure. Each and every hydraulic drive requires these. Hydraulic fluid then transmits the appropriate volume and pressure of the fluid to the cylinders, actuators, and hydraulic motors.

A hydraulic pump has two uses when it is in operation. It does this mechanically by first creating a vacuum at the pump’s intake, which then allows air pressure to drive liquid out of the reservoir and pump it into the pump’s inlet line. Second, it forces this liquid into the hydraulic system
through the pump outlet thanks to its mechanical action.

Vane pumps, gear pumps, and radial piston pumps are the three most popular types of hydraulic pumps. All are suitable for typical hydraulic
applications, however, for higher pressures, the piston design is advised.

Axial piston pumps are frequently used to power mission-critical hydraulic systems, such as those in jet aircraft, and are excellent for high-pressure, high-volume applications.
